ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT APPROVED

We are pleased to announce that our Environmental Assessment submitted on February 3, 2023 for the Mersey River Wind Farm Project has been approved. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking with no major issues regarding the development of this project. 

During the 60 day waiting period the project was released to the public in order to receive feedback from the community. The majority of the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. with only some conditions being added to the project. Overall, we are happy to see Nova Scotians getting excited about the development of the first renewable energy competitor for Nova Scotia Power. 

With the Environmental Assessment Approval now in place, our organization can begin taking strides towards construction for the Mersey River Wind Farm by 2024. Throughout the construction and operation of this project, we will maintain a commitment to working with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and the public.
